Pierre Gauthier-Dubédat: Recent work
After exhibiting a series of large-format works in the town hall of Saint Jean Pied de Port in June, Pierre Gauthier-Dubédat (Bordeaux, 1938) is showing a series of smaller paintings forming part of his most recent production.
Known as a painter of the lyrical abstraction movement, Gauthier-Dubédat spent his childhood in Bayonne, before moving with his parents to Versailles in his early teens. At the age of 17, he registered as a pupil in the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. His subsequent career took him to Syria, where he taught at the faculty of fine arts of the University of Damascus, and then to Madrid, where he ran a fine-art publishing house.
Returning to the Basque Country in 1995, he lived in Bidache until he recently moved to Saint Jean Pied de Port. He has his studio in the Rue de la Citadelle.
Exhibition open daily, 10.30 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.
