Nautilus Lanzarote backs young artists by supporting the Itzal aktiboa prize contest
June 27, 2018
Nautilus Lanzarote is once again joining Itzal aktiboa to support and encourage young artists by offering a two-week artistic residency in Lanzarote (Canary Islands) in the context of the competition for this year's Itzal aktiboa contemporary art prize.
The competition for the Itzal Aktiboa Prize for Young Talent in Contemporary Art 2018 is being organised by Itzal aktiboa in association with the Basque Cultural Institute and the Centre for Contemporary Art of Huarte (Navarre). The deadline for applications is July 15, 2018.
A cash prize of 2,000 euros will be awarded to the winner, and two artists will be invited to participate in artistic residencies at the Centre for Contemporary Art of Huarte. In addition, Nautilus Lanzarote will invite a third artist to spend a two-week artistic residency in its dedicated space for artists on the island of Lanzarote.
Nautilus Lanzarote runs an apartment hotel complex in Lanzarote committed to ensuring accessibility for handicapped visitors, protection of the environment and promotion of artistic creativity. It demonstrates its commitment to art by organising artistic residencies that have welcomed around 15 artists each year for the past 10 years. This is the fourth time that Nautilus Lanzarote has given its support to the competition for the Itzal aktiboa prize.
The works of the artists chosen as finalists in the competition will be presented in a group exhibition in Saint Jean Pied de Port during October 2018.
