Talk by Jacques Ospital, author of the book "Figures de Femmes" which tells the stories of 18 women who have marked the history of the Basque Country.

The event, in honour of International Women's Day, will coincide with the inauguration of the exhibition L'Art au Féminin VIII, presenting the work of seven women artists working in the Basque Country: Irma Azpitarte Mandiola, Béatrice D., Josette Dacosta, Laura Delgado Guillén, Ana Izura, Jacqueline Lebrun and Amaia Molinet Dronda, with the special participation of Cuban artist Silvia Delgado Alvarez.

A new life for old chairs

When she first began painting, Oaia Peruarena, like many artists, drew her inspiration from nature and landscapes, notably in the Basque Country's Baztan valley, where she learned to paint with local figurative artists José Mari Apezetxea and Tomás Sobrino.
