Paintings by Larraitz Ugartemendia, Dolo Marina, Miren Gonzalez Goikoetxea, and Josette Dacosta
INAUGURATION SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4 AT 6:00 PM
Larraitz Ugartemendia paints her natural surroundings with vigorous gestures and vibrant colors. Her favourite subject at the moment s the trees in the mountains behind the old farmhouse in Oiartzun where she lives with her family. Working on-site or from preparatory sketches in herstudio, she seeks to capture moments, emotions, and the effects of light passing through the leaves.
Dolo Marina lives and works in Hendaye. She generally paints on the spot-on the beach, in the mountains, in the city or indoors-with loose and spontaneous brushstrokes, seeking to create form while preserving the freshness of the initial impact. The human element is generally represented in herpaintings through objects or figures.
Miren González Goikoetxea has her studio in Irún. Engaging in long-term artistic projects, she continually explores new frontiers of creativity. Here she presents her project Ber, which corresponds to "re-" in English. Recycling elements from her own paintings of years past, she embarks on a process of renewal and reconstruction.
Josette Dacosta has her studio in Saint Jean Pied de Port. Focusing on the interplay of colours and materials, she draws inspiration from nature and the buildings of local towns and villages to create abstract paintings whose sole purpose is to exist and be shared.
