Irati Inoriza and Natacha Sansoz present their project

February 14, 2019

Irati Inoriza (Balmaseda, 1992) and Natacha Sansoz (Carcassonne, 1981), the two artists chosen in the Itzal Aktiboa 2018 prize contest for a six-week residency at the Huarte Contemporary Art Centre, will present their work in progress to the public on Friday 15 February and Saturday 16 February.

The presentation begins on February 15 at 6.30 p.m. in the Huarte Centre's Habitación exhibition space. Before that, at around 5.00 p.m., visitors are invited to join a participatory performance by Natacha Sansoz, "Soup and experimental embroidery". Please come dressed in wedding clothes ready to prepare a soup, bringing with you an ingredient for the soup and a knife with which to cut it.

The two artists, one from Iparralde and the other from Hegoalde, are using this cross-border initiative to illustrate their respective practices and common concerns, starting with a focus on their own bodies in relation to the public space.

The Huarte Centre is a partner with Itzal aktiboa in the contest for the Itzal aktiboa prize, which is supported by the Basque Cultural Institute, the Pyrenées Atlantiques département and other public entities. The purpose of the contest is to promote contemporary art in the Basque cultural context and contribute to a wider recognition of Basque creativity.

Huarte's Habitación is a permanent exhibition space dedicated to exploring how artistic processes can be shared with the public. In each project, artists are invited to research and develop a project and to show their work regularly to the public in a dynamic way.
