Autopsy of a Landscape

In this exhibition, Asier Gogortza highlights the changes taking place in the rural part of the Basque Country with, in particular, a series of photographs showing the dilapidation of traditional stone farm buildings such as sheep byres.

At a time when old ways of life are changing and risk disappearing forever, the exhibition stresses the urgency of documenting and preserving the memory of this traditional rural world.

We are already behindhand in attempting to save anything from this world. The best we can do, in the photographer’s opinion, is to record the remnants and ruins of a declining rural landscape. In other words, we can only aspire to carry out what amounts to an autopsy of this landscape.

Open daily except Tuesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Free admission.

Inauguration: Saturday April 8 at 6 p.m.

Two Sculptors - Aitor Ruiz de Egino & Hervé Larrieu

Aitor Ruiz de Egino (Donostia, 1971) is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Hernani (Gipuzkoa) in fields as varied as sculpture, painting and ceramics, but also design, scenography and 3D modeling. As a sculptor, he works with iron, bronze and stone, but especially with aluminum, a light and luminous metal that also serves as a support for his paintings and other creations.

Hervé Larrieu (Donapaleu, 1972) combines physical strength and the mysticism of martial arts to forge abstract sculptures out of scrap iron in the forge of Gabat. He also works as a physiotherapist, hence his holistic sensitivity towards both metal and the human body.

Exhibition open from May 1 to May 26, daily except Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
