Josette Dacosta

Josette Dacosta concentrates on colour as her means of visual expression. Born in Bordeaux in 1944, she began her artistic career in 1987 as a student in the Madrid atelier of Spanish abstract painter Teresa Muñiz. A founding member of Itzal Aktiboa, she uses a wide range of materials In her paintings, from oil and acrylics on canvas and board to collage with scraps of torn posters, plaster strips, straw and sheep wool.

Sensitive to the ephemeral nature of all human activity, she exposes her creations to the rigours of wind, rain and sun. She has her main studio in Saint Jean Pied de Port / Donibane Garazi and her works are in private and public collections in France, Spain, the UK, Germany and the USA.
